Atex plugs and sockets
About explosion proof plugs and sockets
Please find here some information about the plugs and sockets we use for the power equipment (transformers, reels, distribution boxes or extension cables) or for connecting the Ultra3.
First some general points:
• In the field of mobile / transportable equipment, plugs and sockets are limited to 16 Amps (A), occasionally 32A and to 230V (occasionally 400V), 42V and 24V. The text here relates to plugs and sockets which can be used in a hazardous area and requiring ATEX certification.
• The ATEX certification is only valid with the use of their combined plug and (mobile/wall) socket, various types do not interconnect, and safe working prohibits the use of different and thus not matching types.
• The four largest plug manufacturers are:
1. ATX/Appleton
2. CEAG/Crouse-Hinds
3. Marechal
4. Stahl
You will find here only detailed information about the first two: ATX *) and CEAG.
*) We use simply ATX for ATX/Appleton.
